Spanish for Beginners

In this class we will look at the functional use of the language: to greet and introduce oneself, ask for something in a public place, being able to identify familiar people, places and objects, describe them and compare them. Language Arts: Chinese Factory

Course Description
This summer, students become workers in a “factory”. They will work on producing fun games and movies for ‘our customers’.
Activities students can expect:
– Creating fun games using flashcards/ word cards: Students will contribute their idea to create fun games to help who want to learn Mandarin.
– Drama: Students will create a drama show according to the given story.
– Others: Quizlet game, sing Mandarin songs, Music and movement. Pinyin (if it needed)

Arithmetic and Critical Thinking Through Puzzles and Games

Course Description
This series will focus on logical thinking, puzzle solving, and developing arithmetic skills through fun and engaging activities. Students will engage with Desmos web based mathematical tools, Geogebra, and Quizlet, amongst other online tools. Additionally students will learn IB command terms, how to solve problems and complete tasks that will allow them to thrive in PYP mathematics and excel during their transition to MYP mathematics.

Creative Writing: Exploring
Dr Seuss and Mo Willems

Course Description
Students can be inspired by the creative stories of authors such as Dr Suess, Mo Willems, Roald Dahl, Dave Pilkey and more! They can build their confidence in reading and writing by exploring how to develop their own ideas for writing and storytelling. Students will work on activities such as a character study, story structure, vocabulary development and be exposed to the different types of literary voices and styles. Students will become authors themselves by creating and publishing their own book to share.

Introduction to latin dances and rhythms: Salsa

Course Description
In these hands-on sessions students will be shown the main steps of salsa dance, how to recognize the beat that feet needs to mark, and by the end of one week session it is expected that most of them can dance a simple salsa songs. For this class learners need a Water bottle, a towel, comfortable clothes , some space to move and if there is a mirror (not compulsory) for a student to see how he/she is moving.

This series will focus on building and improving muscular strength, flexibility, and balance. Students will engage in workouts which challenge them to grow and improve their physical health. In addition to this, students will learn basic theory on how their muscles work, giving them the knowledge to thrive in physically active situations throughout their life. As a final piece, students will learn about stress relief, mood management strategies, mindfulness, and how breath can be used to find calm during unstable periods of time.

“I Can Write Music!”: Beginning Music Theory & Composition

Students will learn the fundamentals of reading and writing music, including scales and key signatures. Students will listen to a wide range of musical genres and use the elements of music (rhythm, dynamics, melody, et al.) to analyse and better appreciate music.

Business Analysis in an Age of Uncertainty

Concept Based Mathematics

The mathematics program in the summer school will be designed to promote both inquiry and application, helping students to develop problem solving techniques.
